If not for the Challenger disaster Christa McAuliffe would have conducted science lessons from space. The lessons included: Hydroponics Magnetism Newton’s Law Effervescence Chromatography Simple Machines Also two LIVE demonstrations: The Ultimate Field Trip, a tour of the Challenger. Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going, Why?, which highlight accomplishments in space exploration and the effect on the world in which we live. The experiments were to become part of an educational package to be shared worldwide with educators and students after the mission. The lessons were put on hold until a group of educators including Barbara Morgan, who would become the first teacher in space, completed them. Narratives and videos were created to allow the experiments to be simulated in classrooms on earth. Check out the lost lessons. You will find that they are written in the format required for lesson plans today.
